What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a trance-like state similar to being completely absorbed in a book or a meditation. In this state, you are able to access the subconscious mind where you are more receptive to positive suggestions that can shift how you see yourself and how you experience the world around you.
Most of us walk around with negative thought patterns running 24/7 in the background. In fact, you can even go so far as to say most of us are in a constant state of being hypnotized by negative thoughts. These thoughts become a filter that affects how you feel and how you perceive the world around you.
My role as your hypnotherapist is to lead you in what feels similar to a guided meditation. My goal is to help you reach the hypnotic state where your superficial thoughts become quiet and you become deeply relaxed. Clients are often concerned that because they tend to have difficulty relaxing, afraid they won’t be able achieve the hypnotic state. This is a normal concern. I have not yet had a client who didn’t feel that way in the beginning. The truth is, if you can follow instructions, you can achieve this state. It happens automatically.
How does it work?
The process of hypnotherapy helps you achieve a deeper state of mind, where you are more receptive to positive ideas. The process is designed to bypass the conscious mind that tends to reject change. Hypnosis is a deep relaxed state where you have access to your subconscious mind where you can affectively replace negative beliefs or thought patterns with positive ones.
Just imagine being able to shift the self-sabotaging negative chatter in your mind into positive and productive thoughts that are more in alignment with who you want to be!
You can literally change a negative story you have been telling yourself for years that has kept you from living out your best life! Think how differently you would show up in a meeting or an interview if the thoughts in your head were encouraging you rather than putting you down!
As with any healing modality, hypnotherapy is not a silver bullet. Though a tremendous amount of healing and release can happen in one session, everyone responds differently. Some respond very quickly whereas some require a bit more time. For lasting results, I tend to see clients for 3-6 visits.

What Clients Are Saying
“As a social scientist, who balances a healthy skepticism with openness about any new healing practices, I've been truly blown away by the revelations and the outcomes of my hypnotherapy sessions with Cathy. Of the many modalities I have used in my health and wellness journey, this one has become integral at getting at core issues quickly and effectively with a lasting impact.”
"As a clinical social worker, I have been exposed to an array of therapies. I was genuinely surprised to see how much healing could happen in just one session. Remarkable! I came to see Cathy concerning an irrational fear I was experiencing. The hypnotherapy revealed the answer immediately. In my experience, this would take years to for me to uncover with traditional therapy alone. This was my first experience with hypnosis and I am on board."
